About

Hello, my name is Fai Quan.  I have decided to create a blog that displays my love for travel and photography.

Unlike my “The Prosaic Zoomer” blog where I get a little too personal with my thoughts, this will contain more photos of the places I have visited.

I hope you enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed capturing the moments.

March 1, 2013 – I started this blog with pictures from my hometown and was planning to expand outward from there.  I had just returned from a three week trip to Southeast Asia.  I decided to take a detour and cover this area after my Manitoba photos.

May 20, 2014 – Just returned from a one week vacation in Iceland.  Not only was it a beautiful country geographically, the people and culture is just as beautiful.

September 26, 2015 – Ten days in Amsterdam with an overnight trip to Brussels and a day trip to Rotterdam.  RailEurope was so easy to use, it made exploring these cities a breeze.  I found it amazing the obvious differences in culture that are only a couple of hundred kilometres apart.  I hope you’ll enjoy my coming blogs from these ten days.

July 13, 2016 – It’s been a hectic year in my personal real estate life.  Downsizing into a smaller condo and selling my existing one in a soft market hasn’t made me a “Happy Camper”.  Well six months later and we have finally settled in.  What do we do in our first week of catching our breath?  Booked a 10-day trip to Germany for September.  We’ll see you in the fall.

September 8, 2016 – I have added two new pages called “Single Shot – Black & White” and “Single Shot – Colour”.  These single shots are exactly that…a photo under no category or part of a main post.

October 12, 2016 – Well I just returned from an 11-Day exploration of Germany.  We had planned on visiting various towns and/or cities located within a two-hour train ride from Frankfurt, where our hotel, NH Frankfurt Messe, was based.  Obtaining a 10-Day German Rail Pass we gave ourselves a flexible schedule to depart and arrive whenever we wanted.  On Sundays and/or Mondays, over the next few months, I will provide photos of Marburg, Heidelberg, Koln (Cologne), Moselkern, Munchen (Munich), Erfurt, Bacharach, Bingen, Rothenberg and Frankfurt.  By the time I’m done, the weather should be getting warmer and the days longer.  It’s just a way for me to get through the winter.  Enjoy!

June 11, 2017 – Posted my last blog of our Germany 2016 trip.  For the next few weeks, I’ll be moving again.  In celebration of the move, we will be heading back to Europe in September for 16 days.  I must have changed the itinerary three times.   Good thing the hotel reservations are all computerized as I have booked and cancelled around 50 different hotels.  Alas, I have finalized our next trip Zurich, Vienna, Llubljana, Bolzano and Innsbruck.  A circular route that includes day trips to Budapest and Venice, this will bring us back to Zurich for our flight home.

September 11, 2018 – I just realized that I haven’t updated this page since my last trip to Europe a year ago.  As you can see, from my blogs over the past year, it was a wonderful trip that filled me with more love of Europe.  I adore this country so much that we are booked to explore Spain in February 2019.  Starting and ending in Madrid, we include Valencia and Barcelona…fifteen days of adventure with most of stay on the eastern coast.    New posts should start appearing towards the end of February 2019.

September 22, 2019 – Just posted my last entry of our Spain adventure.  Next up is Panama City, Panama.  Booked for 7 days in February, 2020

April 25, 2020 – We returned from Panama City on March 6, just a few days before the COVID-19 lockdown.  We couldn’t have timed it better.  Unfortunately, this pandemic has caused a level of distress that is foreign to many of us.   As I skimmed through previous blogs, I cherish the freedom and luxury we were too ignorant to be grateful for.  Hopefully, this pandemic will make us be better people.

  1. I would love to use your photo of the Statue of Liberty at night in an educational video that teaches kids about the Holocaust. I would be happy to credit you anyway you wish and put the address of your blog in the credits. Let me know.

    • Hello Rebecca. It would depend upon what educational message you are sending with your video. I know that there are anti-semitic beliefs out there and I am against that. However, if you using the photo to education the children about the true horrors of the holocaust, then I would approve your use. You can use my name, Fai Quan as a credit with my blog.

  2. Great. Thank you! It is in no way anti-semitic. It is the story of someone whose father survived the Holocaust. I will send you a link once it is up on youtube. It is part of a group of videos done by the Holocaust Speakers Bureau. It is a beautiful photo by the way!

  4. Hi Fai Quan,
I’d love to use your photo of the running track in Chelsea New York for a small pamphlet I’m making about how great neighborhood is for a new office building near the Highline. I’d of course put a credit with your name below the image. Thanks! Please let me know if that’s ok.
