Across Highway #5 from St. Peter’s College, you will find St. Peter’s Parish.
A bright day offers a nice contrast between the white church against a blue sky.
When you first enter, you would be taken aback by the beautiful artwork that adorned ceilings and walls
About 100km east of Saskatoon is the small city of Humboldt. I spent my childhood here and those memories included a place called St. Peter’s College. Every time I walked home from our family-owned cafe, I would look down the street and with an unobstructed view, I could see the silver roof-top.
In my latter high school years, I participated in the drama group which held its’ Monday evening classes at this college. Recently, I revisited this place and found the solitude and beauty most enlightening.

A small replica birdhouse of the college stands beside the main building. The silver roof-top that I could see from my home, 10km away.
Granville Island is located south of downtown Vancouver with False Creek separating the two. Every time I’m in Vancouver, I put aside some time to spend here. The Public Market has many unique stalls providing a huge assortment baked goods, seafood, fruit, vegetables, cheeses and meats.
My favourite part of the visit would be to grab a hot bowl of seafood chowder and finish it off with an espresso and high stack apple pie.

Vancouver Harbour, which sits on north of Vancouver, is home to small airplanes. We spent a number of hours watching them coming and going.

The past few visits to Vancouver has always occurred in the fall due to the fact that my adult daughter had gone there for educational purposes and allowed me to tag along. I always find fall colours seem to be more outstanding in Vancouver. I think it has to do with the rain and/or misty weather. Just like in the prairies, after a rainfall the scenery appears more brighter. It’s like washing the dirt away from the air.
A great place for birds. I could never understand why certain birds, such as pigeons, choose to spend their winters in Saskatchewan, when they can be here.

This seagull perched himself next to me on a park bench that overlooked English Bay. Our short conversation was mostly one-sided. He was a great listener.

This coastal city takes advantage of the water with its’ various water transportation. Whether you are heading out of town or just getting across the creek, you will find a way to get there.
These great water buses are just a few minutes ride to take along or to the other side of False Creek.

False Creek
One of my favourite Canadian cities, I make a point of visiting this place as much as possible. Located on the warm pacific west coast, Vancouver boasts a beautiful harbour surrounded by tall glass towers.

On a clear night you can get a magnificent bird’s eye view of Hong Kong (foreground) and Kowloon(background) from the Peak. I wish I could have gotten a better panoramic photo but this will have to suffice. We found ourselves a sweet spot on the outdoor deck of the Second Cup cafe. Picture this: caramel latte, new york cheesecake, the music of Van Morrison, Billy Joel, the Beatles…and this is your view.
